There are three main areas or dimensions in Jesus' public life (it's only for the sake of distinguishing them, and therefore this need to be taken only as a very general description).
The first is the dimension of his preaching - the light he shovered upon the earth. Much of his preaching was about our earthly life and the kingdom of God here on earth.
"Love your enemies; bless those who curse you; pray for those who persecute you; to the one who strikes you, turn the other cheek also; do not judge; do not condemn; forgive generously; give generously" - this, most of his teachings are regarding areas in the earthly sphere, that are spiritual practices which we must strive for daily and get to transform ourselves.
The second is the dimension of miracles and signs and wonders that he performed. They were more symbolic, cosmic and pointing towards the heavenly kingdom. They demanded faith in the 'God-man', more transcendent, contained promises of rewards, and accelerated our journey to heaven.
The attitudes he adopted; the positions he took; the values he held fast to; the pathways he walked; the sufferings he undertook; and the death on the cross that he embraced - all combine to form the third dimension of his life.
The culmination point- the resurrection- welded together all the three dimensions above.
In our times, for one group, the earthly kingdom of God and his moral teachings are enough.
For another group need only faith, salvation of the soul, and the heavenly kingdom.
Some earthly bugs and some heavenly bugs!
In fact, what both these groups reject is the synthesis, the Christ, and the third dimension that he lived concretely!
