Although there are many stories of women associated with Jesus in the Gospels, I am drawn to the stories of seven women from the four Gospels.

I prefer to read the Canaanite woman in Matthew (15) and the woman with the issue of blood in Mark (5). In Luke, I would read the sinner woman who comes in with the ointment uninvited (7) and Martha (10). In John, we should read the Samaritan woman (4), the woman caught in adultery (8), and Mary (11).

He brings forward: the woman with the issue of blood from anonimity to fame, the Canaanite woman from behind to front, Martha from the kitchen to the living room, the uninvited woman to be the hostess, the Samaritan woman from rejection to leadership, the adulteress woman from the mob to identity, and Mary from the living room to the public! Such are his ways!
