"One who comes after me is greater than I. I am not worthy to stoop down and untie the thongs of his sandals," says the Baptist on one occasion. He is talking about Jesus. Therefore, I think that a cosmic Christ concept can be attributed to his word without much fault.
When we look at it that way, those who come after us and those who come after them would be greater than us one to another.
I can see and know how different the 'Z' generation (born from 1995 to 2010) and the 'Alpha' generation (born from 2010) are from me. Their priorities, interests, and even language are so different from mine!
Instead of the required premium gasoline, my generation, due to their stubbornness, drives these new gens with regular gasoline and sometimes even with diesel!
Just imagine how quickly they will all break down!
The Church's approach to them also doesn't seem to me any different.
There is no point in blaming us either. We are like a mother hen who has hatched eggs, only to see that all of them are ducklings! We only know scratching and pecking, and moving away from water bodies!
How quickly was the way the society got changed! For two millennia almost, the same textbooks, the same lunch box, and the same attire were enough! How quickly the millennium gave way, and the old ones seemed no longer enough!
The curriculum, the lessons, the teachers, lunch boxes and the attire will all have to get newly developed from those who grew up mostly running on premium gas. Until then, there will be many mistakes committed! May time forgive us!
